What Program Should I Register for?

Our programs are designed to support your developing skater as they move through the different levels.

PreCanSkate is where new skaters ages 3-6 will begin. This program is intended to get them comfortable on the ice without their guardians, while learning basic skills such as sitting, standing, falling safely, bending knees, and more, in a play-based session.

All skaters who are new to our club are assessed by our coaches and placed into a group that is appropriate for their skill level - this means they may move between different sessions or programs even if you registered them for something else. Our coaches and admin team will communicate these changes with you.

Skaters who are returning for another season but have not passed PreCanSkate must register for PreCanSkate again. If you are unsure, please email us.

CanSkate: These sessions have groups of skaters at numerous stages of learning-to-skate on the ice at the same time, some new to skating and some more advanced. Groups are organized by skill level, not age.

Our coaches are constantly assessing skaters and can easily move them between groups to accommodate their achievement level. We keep record of the CanSkate stages that our Skaters pass and you can view this information anytime in your Uplifter website account by clicking the yellow star labeled "Achievements" or what skills they are working on, under "Evaluations".

CanSkatePLUS: Skaters who have achieved at least CanSkate Level 3 may be invited to register for CanSkatePLUS. This is appropriate for skaters who are strongly focused on developing their skating skills, or eventually moving into figure skating or hockey programs.

STARSkate: Skaters who have passed CanSkate Level 6 are eligible for this figure-skating specific program.

POWER: Aimed at skaters who have a hockey or ringette focus, and have achieved the equivalent of CanSkate Level 3.
